Formed in 1921 as the Alabama auxiliary to the American Farm Bureau Federation with close ties to the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service at Auburn University. The Bureau withdrew from the American Farm Bureau Federation and in 1988 changed its name to Alabama Farmers' Federation.
